TIPS | WEDDING FAVORS YOUR GUESTS WILL WANT TO TAKE HOME

Think about the last several weddings you’ve attended. Do you remember the wedding favors? Let’s be honest, the personalized matchbooks and mints aren’t favors that your guests will remember. In fact, they may be left behind at the reception tables only to be tossed away. You want your wedding favors to be unique, memorable and appreciated.

Here are a few wedding favor ideas that your guests will actually want!

Pretty Little Plants

Who wouldn’t want these adorable succulents sitting in their living room or on their night stand? I’ll take one for each room in my house, please and thank you!

Cute Coffee Mugs

If you’re having a fall or winter wedding and a majority of your guests are avid coffee drinkers, you can’t go wrong with a coffee mug and beans.

Kits for the Kids

Don’t forget favors for the kids! A little basket of gadgets, games, and snacks will surely keep them entertained all night!

Cigars

Men may not be fans of pretty little plants, but they sure do love their cigars!

Donuts!

Because nobody can resist a donut! Send your guests home with a sugary treat!

Ice Cream Scoops

Come on, how charming! After all, we ALL scream for ice cream and you can be sure that your guests will use these at home a lot!

Remember one thing: You know your guests the best. If you have a guest list filled with food lovers, a midnight snack will be the way to their hearts. If your crowd really enjoys to have a good drink, you know they won’t leave behind a mini bottle of tequila! Give them a small gift to show your love and appreciation for accompanying you on such a special day!

What would you like to take home with you as a wedding favor?

TOP 5 | WEDDING SIGNAGE

Signs.

We use them everyday and hardly think about them at all. But at weddings, a well-crafted sign can not only provide necessary information about the day/couple but, also evoke incredible emotion from your guests.

Signs are an example of the 'ooh, ahhhs, and oh-yeah's' that help move a wedding from good to great. So, we've gathered our favorite ideas on how to use signage (whether witty or sweet) on your big day.

1. Arrival/Parking

Much like other events (think graduations, parties, concerts) finding your way around --or even to-- a wedding can be an unnecessary stress for guests. Use signs leading up to and inside of your venue to help keep guests on the right track.

You can also use signage to preview your day and/or your bridal party with your guests.

2. Ceremony

In the ceremony space signs can help set the tone for your day. Let everyone know what a great day you've got planned.

3. Reception Programming: Schedule + Seating

Even if guests aren't assigned seats, everyone will need one to eat.

4.  Decor: The Bar/Cocktail Hour, Reception and/or Ceremony Space

Signs don't have to be limited to directions or logistics. Consider using signs to jazz up your reception space. Decorate the bar with signs or share your wedding hashtags!

5. Departure

Take this time to send your guest off with a gift, a thank you, or even a prayer for safe travels.

Signs, like weddings, can come big or small, the most important thing to remember is what goes on it should be your call! Use humor or hymns, the choice is all yours. And if you're in the market for a calligrapher may we (kindly but, also seriously) suggest Stephanie over at Ellie + Ace. She's a member of The Coterie family and does amazing work!

MOST LOVED | WHISK UNTIL SWEET

Happy hump day! It’s time to show some appreciation to one of our most loved vendors. Meet the #GirlBoss behind Whisk Until Sweet, Heather! She's a native Texan with a major sweet tooth! Heather's style is modern, simple, and elegant. All of her beautiful cakes feature fresh and tasty flavors. The intricacies in the flavors are so delightful they forever leave a remembered taste in your mouth!

1. Five words or a five word sentence that would describe you or your company best?

Edgy, Refined, Creative, Whimsical, Rustic.

2. What was the inspiration behind the name "Whisk until Sweet"? So catchy!

The name "Whisk until Sweet" was inspired by a simple line in a cookbook. I knew I wanted my company name to be simple but to the effect of whisk, stir, mix, etc. So when I saw it, it was perfect!

3. What fueled your passion towards entrepreneurship?

I was working in the marking industry prior to Whisk until Sweet. That environment didn't allow me to be creative and I felt that I was always stepping on others toes. It was a very dictated industry. That's when I saved my money, attended culinary school in Canada, and started Whisk until Sweet in 2011 by myself. Fast forward 5 years... I enjoy being my own boss! It's very fulfilling and flexible. Being my own boss is also pretty cool. I can be creative without stepping on others toes and enjoy what I do, I love it!

4. What was or has been your favorite project thus far?

I did a photo shoot with Grit + Gold at Brik in Fort Wort. I love it because it was rustic, free reign, and actually focused on the cake; which is a rare occasion. Being creative and given free reign of what I wanted to do as a #CakeBoss really paid off, allowing me to really show who I am. Hard work pays off!

5. What would be your dream project or client, if you had the choice?

Wow! That's a hard one... I would definitely choose my Grandma. She instilled the love of baking in me! She passed when I was 10 years old. She was a cookie girl! I would bake her either snicker doodle or chocolate chip cookies. Not only was my Grandma amazing but so was her baking.

6. What is the next big step for Whisk until Sweet?

First and foremost, I am so thankful for my 1st year being completely booked! I'm just going with the flow for now. One long term goal would be to have a shop in Dallas, but maybe not until the next five years.

7. What would be your advice for anyone interested in becoming their own boss?

My best advice would be to stick to a routine. It sounds simple but it really isn't. When it's only you, it's much harder making a living. Five business goals and two personal goals a day helps keep me focused. Goals in which of what needs to happen. I also would suggest finding a community or professional group of friends. My profession and working for myself can sometimes be isolating. Any outlet is refreshing!

Thanks so much for telling us your story Heather! We're so incredibly excited to be working with Heather again for our wedding this weekend!

THE BIG FAKE WEDDING | VENUE AT THE WATERSTONE

The Big Fake Wedding made a stop in Dallas this past September and we were so excited to join them for a second time this year! With a Berry-toned Thanksgiving design board in mind, we created the personal flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres + flower crowns), two guest tables, and the couple's sweetheart table. We had an amazing time collaborating with fellow vendors and meeting all the wedding guests, brides + grooms looking for inspiration.

See our work from this incredible day below and a recap of the whole affair here on Ruffled!

Special thank you to Ellie & Ace for designing pretty paper for our tables, Dixie Does Vintage for the gorgeous purple glassware, I Do Linens for our guest table linens, and Urban Antiquities for our stunning head table chairs.

For our guest tables we played with the light and the dark side of the theme. One table featured a bountiful floral wreath with peachy oranges and deep plum florals. Pillar candles and votives created a warm glow over the beautifully lettered custom placemats created by Ellie & Ace. We just couldn't help ourselves when it came to our imaginary guest list :) Love to all the other HP fans out there!

As a last minute decision we also styled the sweetheart table. When we spotted these gold candelabras at a local antique store we had to have them. Can't wait to use them in upcoming events!

Table no. two featured deep berry tones and all the copper accents we could find. Both of our tables displayed our vintage glassware collection but Dixie Does Vintage kindly contributed her purple water goblets which paired perfectly with our copper tumblers.
